Saw the doctor Monday. She said the incision looks great and the pacer checked out great, all is well. However, she told me she wants me to wait another 2 weeks before I jump back into lifting. She says the pressures of heavy weight could still possibly force the incision open and cause a hell of a mess. I told her I would compromise and give her another week, thats it. So, my official day back will be Wednesday, December 26th. I will do close stance squats, pull-throughs, supermans, and ab work.
The incision feels great and I have full range of motion back, but I understand her concern. Not many pacemaker patients have 700+ on their back routinely, so they aren't sure if the pressure will pop it out or not. It may not be 100% healed on the inside yet, and they are being cautious. At first I was very upset over all of this, but now after some time to think, I understand that they have to cover their own asses. If they tell me to lift and I rip it back open, they are liable, so to be safe, they tell me to wait another couple weeks.
I wanted to go back today, but the doc has the wife worried too, so I compromised and told her next week will be go time. Time to prepare for the Pittsburgh Monster dead in March and the April IPA Iron Horse full meet. I am anxious to see how much strength I have lost not lifting in 4 weeks! The doctor said to come back slow, I told her I had no choice, 4 weeks is a lot of strength, but I full expect to pull well over 700 in March, so I hope it comes back to me fast.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone! Be safe, remember the reason for the season, and I will be back to logging my workouts after the holiday.
