Got a new pair of strong bands. According to the info on Elite, strong bands that are new or close to new add about 175 at the top a piece. We choked them, you take the whole band, put it under the band pegs, pull one end through the other, then stretch it to the bar. It took just about everything I had to stretch the bands up to the bar. We knew right away that this was going to be hell. To make it more fun, we put 2 strong bands a side, or about 700 pounds of band tension at the top.
Worked up to 300 pounds bar weight. First set, Cullen unracks it but the pressure of close to 1000 pounds take his air away, he goes down to the box, and gets stuck and has to dump it. Oh shit. My turn, I get my air in and hold it tight and bang out 2 reps. Cullen got set the next time and got 2 as well. We continued, back and fourth, until we did 5 sets of doubles.
Afterwords I felt drunk. Nervous system was fried and it felt like I was floating around the room.
-Glute-hams: 26 pound kettle bell, x8, x8, x8.
-Reverse Hypers: 200 x10, x10, x10.
-Standing abs: 10 x8, x8, x8.
Right now I am so tired I just want to eat and sleep my afternoon away. Next week we are going to add the average bands to the mixed, choked of course, and work up to more bar weight. I can't even explain how fucking terrible, but also wonderful, that amount of tension felt.
Ordered my ACE squat suit last night. I will start using it, straps down, next week. Looking forward to it-
This song really drives home how important this goal of Elite is to me right now. It just strikes a nerve of how much I am sacrificing and how much I am putting off to the side to reach my goals. I am so glad that we made the decision not to have any children when we got married. Christ, I am so fucking self centered and involved in ME that I don't have much time for anything else. I couldn't do that to a kid, thank God my wife is strong and understands and my step-kids are all grown.
The traveling 4 hours every weekend to train (I drive 2 hours a day, 7 days a week, 5 days to work, the other 2 to train). The missing of family holidays and get togethers. The missing out on the kids stuff, not being able to go visit my parents who aren't getting any younger. Sometimes you wonder if it is even worth it, but then when you are under that bar and you are straining and hitting a pr, you don't want to be anywhere else...
