Jesus. Today's leg training was literally hell, and the weights were light. Strange how that works, but when you do slow, controlled movements with 1.5 to 2 minutes max rest in between, you get an incredible pump and pain that is unlike anything.
I would rather squat 800 for 1 then do what I did today. Any day of the week.
-Smith machine squats: put my feet out a bit so the weight was all on the thighs, went ass-to-grass, 225 x10, x10, x10. Rest was 1.5 minutes between sets. Slow eccentric, pause, come up, stop short of lockout.
-Hack squat: 225 x10, x10, x10. Close stance, 1.5 minutes rest. Almost puked.
-Leg press: 405 x10, x10, x10. Close stance, 1.5 minutes rest.
-Leg ext: 120 x10, x10, x10. 1 minutes rest.
-Standing calves: 315 x10, x10, x10, x10.
Then I made a sad attempt to walk down the 2 flights of stairs to get out of the gym. My legs are already hurting, the next 3 or 4 days are going to be terrible.
This workout took less then an hour including warm-ups. When I got there, 2 dudes were doing chest, and when I left they were still doing chest. Neither of them had a bead of sweat on them, my shirt was soaked front to back.
People want to know why they can't make gains. Regardless if you are looking for strength, size, what ever, you have to go in and beat your own ass into the dirt every day you go to the weight room. If you don't you are waisting time and you are spinning your wheels. Training legs with volume and intensity is HARD ASS WORK. I was sick to my stomach, wobbly, dizzy, and getting cold sweats. That is what it takes to invoke a change in the body. it doesn't take a lot of weight, it takes concentration, perfect form, and slow eccentrics.
When I go to the gym everyone is doing chest and arms. That shit is easy. Deadlift, squat, do shoulders, lots of back, then throw in the chest and arms, and you are going to grow like a weed. The plan is simple, lose fat and hang on to my muscle. If I continue to train with this kind of intensity, there is nothing that can stop me from achieving that.
Waiting on more protein from Protein Factory, my TRAC from MHP, and my Anatrop from Troponin Nutrition. Looking forward to a fun summer and fall!

Sounds like a great workout! I have a buddy who loves nothing but working chest and arms. When I told him the kind of leg workout I wanted to do (with suggestions from you and Nick), asking if he wanted to join, his reply was, "No f-'in way!" Keep up the great work.
